Why the world needs editors

“This is a bad time to be performing a role that is both invisible and unquantifiable.”

A brilliant article by Mandy Brett on why the world needs editors, even if it doesn’t need books.

Thanks to graphic designer W.H. Chong (aka Culture Mulcher) for posting this.

Thanks for posting this post. Poor sub-editors are really getting a bashing, not just in Australia. But it was always a role that was cut in times of recession by people with little understanding of what it entailed.

Commonsense publishers will continue to value subs for the many benefits they bring, not least quality and efficiency but also potential savings through clashes with the law over libel etc.
